You may feel that you have a good life, but Jesus will always make it better! As we start our series looking at the book of Hebrews, we hope that each of you will take the chance to read through the whole book. Some of it may seem difficult to understand but it is well worth reading. Hebrews helps us to make the link between the Old Testament and Jesus, it reinterprets the Old Testament images of High Priest, Tabernacle and covenant in terms of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Strength Bible School - Philippians 3 - Tim Dobson

November 22nd 2018 7pm. Strength Bible School - Philippians 3 - Tim Dobson

Content of Chapter 3 v1-11 Earning and Effort Safeguarding - protecting the vulnerable. There are Jewish people insisting that non-Jews (Gentiles) must be circumcised in order to be fully Christian. They were putting confidence in the “flesh” rather than just having simple faith in Jesus. Similar to the situation in Galatia (Gal 3), Paul warns them to keep clear of such people and not circum to their teaching. The word “flesh” in the New Testament can mean “sinful, human nature” or it can mean “human endeavour” as apposed to God’s gracious work. Download Discussion notes

Woodlands Bible School: The Book of Judges - Tim Dobson

podcast3.jpg

Breaking the cycle kingdom lessons from the book of Judges. The book of Judges records the revivals God brought to the people of Israel and how they turned away from Him. Judges 2:10 After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel. 11 Then the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord and served the Baals. 12 They forsook the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of Egypt. They followed and worshipped various gods of the peoples around them. They aroused the Lord’s anger 13 because they forsook him and served Baal and the Ashtoreths. 14 In his anger against Israel the Lord gave them into the hands of raiders who plundered them. He sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, whom they were no longer able to resist. 15 Whenever Israel went out to fight, the hand of the Lord was against them to defeat them, just as he had sworn to them. They were in great distress. 16 Then the Lord raised up judges, who saved them out of the hands of these raiders. Download Discussion notes
