Sustainability is a 21st Century issue and a discipleship issue. We know more about the planet than ever at this time in history and have the best technology to manage it, yet the systems that make the planet a place where humans can thrive are themselves in danger. The problems of climate change and the impact of population growth, consumption and industrialisation affect the whole planet but particularly impact the poorest people in the world. This week we are concluding our series by looking at "Life Everlasting". What hints does the Bible give us about life after death and how we might be spending eternity?
We understand about everlasting life from passages like John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” The everlasting life Jesus spoke of is not simply the unending life of eternity. It speaks of a quality of life. Some scholars even translate the idea of the words everlasting life into “life from heaven” or “life from above.” It means that we believe God gives "His kind of life" to us. In thinking about the Trinity, God three in one, our minds can struggle to grasp how God can be ‘more personal’ than us three-dimensional, material creatures. We can however experience and be caught up in His three personed life, the life of the Trinity.

Mark Scandrette of Reimagine
Mark Scandrette is an internationally recognised expert in practical Christian spirituality. He is the co-founder of Reimagine, a centre for integral Christian practice. We are really excited to have Mark coming to speak at Woodlands on 11 November 2018.
His most recent books include Free, Practicing the Way of Jesus, Belonging and Becoming, and The Ninefold Path Notebook. In addition to leading retreats and workshops for leaders and teams around the world, Mark teaches in the Doctoral program at Fuller Seminary.
He is on the creative team for the 9 Beats Collective, an international project exploring the beatitudes as a 21st vocabulary for the living way of Jesus. He lives with his family in San Francisco.

In Acts 26 he is speaking to some very powerful people but shares his direct experience of Jesus and the commission he has been given. The clarity of that commission is challenging. How would you describe Paul’s commission? Was it unique for Paul or for all Christians for all time? Last week we looked at the idea of people being under the power of Satan (a scary thought!). This week we are thinking about forgiveness.
