Oct 14th, Creed: Suffered under Pontious Pilate - Dave Mitchell (AM)

Oct 14th, Creed: Suffered under Pontious Pilate - Dave Mitchell. In our series on the great Christian Creeds we are examining some of the phrases that have summed up orthodox Christian belief for Centuries. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the early Fathers of the Church, meditating on Scripture and in debate with one another distilled some foundational truths that are not just theoretical but deeply enable Christian life and practice. This week we are thinking about what it means for Jesus Christ to have ‘suffered under Pontius Pilate’.

Oct 14th, Mission of Jesus: Forgiveness - Dave Mitchell (7pm)

Oct 14th, Mission of Jesus: Forgiveness - Dave Mitchell. Paul the Apostle shares his testimony several times in the book of Acts. In Acts 26 he is speaking to some very powerful people but shares his direct experience of Jesus and the commission he has been given. The clarity of that commission is challenging. How would you describe Paul’s commission? Was it unique for Paul or for all Christians for all time? Last week we looked at the idea of people being under the power of Satan (a scary thought!). This week we are thinking about forgiveness.

In Psalm 1 the Psalmists talks about ‘walking’ ‘standing’ and ‘sitting’ with groups of people that the psalmist sees as ‘bad news’.
