Devotion - Church for Teenagers

Young people are important to us. We believe that it's vitally important that teenagers have an expression of church that is relevant, engaging and geared to their needs.

Devotion (affectionately known as Devo) is the youth wing of Woodlands Church. Devotion exists to help young people connect in meaningful relationships with each other, the adult team and with God. Through the mission statement of “loving God, loving each other and loving the world” we seek to help young people care for and influence the world at large.

Devo starts at School Year 8 and goes right up to Year 13, though many young people stay on at 18 plus as leaders. We meet in various forms throughout the week:

Fridays

On Friday evenings we meet together at Woodlands Church from 7.30 to 9.30pm for social time, worship, a short talk and small groups.

We run a tuck shop and Dcaf (Devotion Cafe), which regularly raises money for a range of charities. We also run termly social events and themed meals.

Post-16

Post-16 groups meet on alternate Tuesdays from 7.30 to 9.30pm at Ashley Down House and provide an opportunity for older teens to spend time together in a smaller group setting.

A typical evening involves plenty of social time, cake, prayer, worship and discussion about life and faith.

Sundays

During the 11am service at Woodlands Devotion go off-site to Ashley Down House, where we run a mixed programme of separate boys/girls events, Serving Sundays (when we seek to serve the church/other groups in various ways), small groups and testimonies.

We meet at the back of Church when the children go out and walk back to Woodlands together for the end of the service.

Space

Space is an opportunity to hang out, play games, eat toast and whatever else we decide to do on the day. You can bring your homework, bring your friends, bring a game or just turn up and see what happens.

It’s a great place to hang out with friends (or make some new ones) after school on Thursdays. Space runs from 3.15-5pm at Ashley Down House and is open to Years 8-13.
